Steve Pederson

Re-Recording Mixer

Steve Pederson is an Academy Award-winning re-recording mixer whose career in sound spans more than 30 years and 150 motion picture and television productions. Part of the sound team at Sony Pictures since 2013, Pederson has applied his talents to such films as Infinite, The Equalizer 2, The Magnificent Seven, When the Bough Breaks and Father Figures. He also has a growing resume among premiere television series, including Defending Jacob for Apple+; Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Tales from the Loop for Amazon; Challenger for Netflix, and Counterpart and Outcast for STARZ. He mixed many of those prestige shows in Dolby ATMOS.
Beginning at Universal Pictures and later at Glen Glenn Sound, Pederson spent the early years of his career working his way from dub stage machine operator to sound editor. Later, he chose to focus on mixing and was given the opportunity to mix by the Todd-AO president and legendary mixer Buzz Knudsen. Since then, he has worked on many classic and popular films, including Schindler’s List, which brought him an Oscar nomination, and Apollo 13, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Sound in 1995.
